What if some new evidence was dug up and we found out that Babe Ruth secretly murdered 4 people; whould he now be removed from the HOF? I think Reggie Bush should be able to keep the Heisman and the coaches and administrators should be fired. Reggie accepting the free house for his parents, etc... had zero impact on his on field performance.Large Caninenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494675973354073448.post-37963174048230559622011-01-06T15:26:59.279-06:002011-01-06T15:26:59.279-06:00In Joe Posnanski's blog about the HoF voting y...In Joe Posnanski's blog about the HoF voting yesterday, me recounts a discussion he had with HoF president Jeff Idelson and, essentially, Idelson clearly WANTS the BBWAA voting members to act as morality police for potential Hall of Famers. So whether we agree or disagree with that concept (and I disagree with it), it's clearly what the current HoF leadership wants, so it won't be changing.

If that's the case, then so be it. But in a few years when Clemens, Bonds, and other known 'roiders start showing up on the ballot, I hope we call out any writer who tries to justify voting for them... or for Big Papi or A-Roid even further down the road... as being nothing short of hypocrites. Likewise, I'll scream "hypocrite" at anyone who withholds votes from Bagwell, while using the "no proof" defense of their vote for Jeter.

Yes, I agree... things are really going to get ugly here in about 2 years.JimCrikkethttp://knuckleballsblog.comnoreply@blogger.com
